EmPower+ Funding Crisis

NYSERDA's premier energy efficiency and building electrification program for low- and moderate-income (LMI) residents is under threat. EmPower+ has been extremely successful in making 1-4 family LMI households more comfortable, helping to lower energy bills, and building the workforce. This momentum must continue.

NYSERDA is planning to cut the program’s funding 30% this year and 30% next year, departing from Climate Act (CLCPA) legal mandates that 35-40% of benefits go to disadvantaged communities.
