TAP’s Controller will be experienced, reliable, flexible, and able to produce high level work with limited oversight. If you thrive in a collegial and comfortable small office work environment and if you are enthusiastic about serving a wide variety of people of diverse cultures, income levels, ethnicities, and gender identities, then you will be welcome and comfortable here.
To succeed in this role, you must have excellent organizational and communication skills along with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. You will join 12 Totally Awesome Professionals in our downtown Troy office. A limited amount of remote work is negotiable, but on-site presence is preferred. Collaboration is very important to us. This position requires you to be responsible and motivated, able to juggle multiple tasks, willing to learn new skills, honest and enthusiastic about the mission of this organization, and uphold TAP’s reputation as a Trusted Affordable and Proactive service provider.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Controller reports to the Executive Director and interfaces with the Board President and Treasurer, occasionally meeting with the Finance Committee of the board.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Controller performs all aspects of organizational accounting for TAP Inc. and sister company TAP PLLC including:

accounts payable, accounts receivable,

payroll and related HR duties,

banking and cash management,
-
general ledger account analysis and transaction tracing,

monthly and year-end financial statements and adjusting and closing entries,

chief liaison with outside auditing firm on annual audit and year-end audited financial statements and tax reporting,

intercompany transactions and analysis,
-
assist Executive Director in preparation of annual operating budget and grant budgets and reporting,

maintain accounting files, both digital and hard-copy,
-
Maintains, develops and documents policies related to financial reporting and internal control,

Ensures compliance with GAAP and federal and state laws and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting and 8+ years of progressively increasing responsibility

Strong knowledge of GAAP

Proficiency in QuickBooks (desktop version) and Microsoft Excel

Experience in multi-company and inter-company accounting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and professional judgement

Desire to support, strengthen and contribute to a collaborative, roll-up-your- sleeves culture

Ability to independently manage multiple deadlines and priorities efficiently and accurately
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS:
Estimated Annual Salary Range (Part Time: 20 to 25 Hours per week): $35,000 - $40,000
Flexible schedule, generous paid time off, health insurance, 403(b)
